About Misuk Goltz

I grew up in South Korea and studied art history and psychology.  I also studied Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling at Wright State University in Ohio and began to work with mentally challenged people and their families as an outpatient psychiatric counselor at the Good Samaritan Hospital.

Since I retired in 2007, I have spent much of my time painting, and watercolor painting has become my passion.  The watercolor medium is challenging but blissfully satisfying when the painting works; when it captures the feeling and mood of the particular subject at the particular moment.   I am inspired by all types of subjects but people inspire me the most.  Each individual is unique and intriguing; capturing the attitude and expression of people on a piece of watercolor paper, in the way I understand them, always excites me.

I have studied with many nationally known artists over the last few years.  I received a signature membership from the Ohio Watercolor Society in 2010 and have had my paintings accepted at the National Watercolor Society International and Members' Juried Shows.  I am currently a member of the California Watercolor Association.  I present watercolor workshops and classes.  I live in Davis, CA with my husband.
